Application
The RIDGID Model 1450 Pressure Testing Pump is designed to pressure
test a wide range of uid systems for leaks including heating, compressed
air, oil, re sprinkler, and small bore pipeline systems using water, oil or a
mixture of water and ethylene glycol.
Note: the viscosity should be comparable with that of water for the pump
to operate smoothly.
General safety
1. Read and follow these instructions.
2. Know the location and functions of all controls before using pump
( g.1).
3. This pump was designed for speci c applications. We strongly
recommend that it NOT be modi ed and/or used for any application
other than for which it was intended.
4. Check for damaged parts before using the pump. DO NOT use if the
hose or any other part is damaged or broken.
5. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
Operating Instructions (see g. 1)
1. Connect outlet hose (a) to piping system.
2. Close pressure relief valve (b) and remove locking pin (c) from
handle (d).
3. Pump liquid into system to completely ll the system ( g. 2).
(Use long pump handle strokes to ll system).
4. Continue to pump until desired pressure is reached ( g. 3).
(Use short pump handle strokes to reach desired pressure).
CAUTION:
The unique pump system allows high pressures to be reached very easily.
Watch the pump’s pressure gauge (e) closely to avoid exceeding the required
test pressure. Pressures above the rated pressure of 50 Bar/750 psi will
cause damage to the pump’s components. The nylon tube (51117) will
normally burst rst to prevent damage to other pump components.
5. If system has no leaks the gauge will not show a drop in pressure
during test period (after temperature stabilisation).
6. Release pressure by opening relief valve.
Maintenance
Keep reservoir and pump system clean. The inlet hose is supplied with
a lter to prevent dirt from entering the pump. If lter becomes clogged,
remove from hose and ush clean with water ( g. 4).
